Brokaw FFA Members Compete at NWMSU Ag CDE Contests
Forty-two Brokaw FFA members of Clarinda competed in the Northwest Missouri State University Agriculture Career Development Events held at the NWMSU campus on October 6th. The chapter saw eighteen members compete in the Livestock Judging competition, nine members compete in the Horse Judging competition, one member compete in the Agronomy contest, six members in the Dairy Foods competition, and eight members compete in the FFA Knowledge competition.
In the Horse Judging competition. The Clarinda team placed 1st out of 24 teams. Allyson Johnson, Rylee Pulliam, and Owen Johnson made up the 1st place team. Allyson Johnson placed 4th, Pulliam placed 8th, and Owen Johnson placed 10th overall out of 88 total individuals. Other members competing in Horse Judging were Addison Dow, Brooklyn Harris, Richlyn Muff, Brodie Miller, Blakely Ridnour, and Emilie Garey.
In the Livestock Judging competition, the Clarinda team placed 2nd out of 42 total teams. Members making up the 2nd place team were Riley Nothwehr, Kaylee Smith, and Dalton Wright. Nothwehr placed 1st overall, Smith placed 6th, and Wright placed 8th out of a total of 241 participants. Other Brokaw team members in the Livestock Judging competition included Jillian Dammann, Maggie Carlson, Callie King, Kody Erickson, Emma Hanson, Colt Garey, Christian Mascher, Kylie Meier, Cael Wagoner, Lexi Clark, Owen Wright, Stevie Wilmes, Hannah Comer, Hayden Vorhies, and Ryder Pullen.
In the Advanced FFA Knowledge competition, the team of Phoebe Garrett and Taylor Rasmussen was named champion team. Garrett placed 1st overall and Rasmussen placed 2nd. In the Novice FFA Knowledge competition, the team consisting of Morgan Manes, Gabby Derry, and Mataya Eighmy placed 6th out of 37 teams. Manes finished 7th out of 172 total individuals. Others competing in the FFA Knowledge exam were Jalon Olson, Jayka Mark, and Ellie Carter.
In the Dairy Foods contest, the Brokaw team placed 16th out of 30 teams. Kelsey Stephens, Elaina Hesse, and A.J. Woods made up the 16th place team. Others competing in Dairy Foods included Bella Johnson, Hailee Fuller, and Addison Lehman.
Nathan King also represented our chapter and competed in the Agronomy competition, placing in the top half.
