Governor Reynolds signed bill HF 847 which takes affect immediately. The mask mandate in school buildings has been lifted, allowing students and staff the option to choose whether or not they want to wear a mask. More information regarding school buses is below:
In an extremely rare move, Governor Reynolds signed HF 847 in the middle of the night to make it effective immediately.
The CDC does currently require masks to be worn on public transportation, specifically including buses for both public and nonpublic schools. The school bus requirements from CDC and link to the CDC handbook for opening can be found here: https://www.cdc.gov/
Are masks required on school buses?
Yes, passengers and drivers on school buses must wear a mask, including on buses operated by public and private school systems, subject to the exclusions and exemptions in CDC’s Order. Operators of school buses should refer to the Department of Education’s COVID-19 Handbook pdf icon for additional guidance. In the above linked CDC Handbook for opening school, updated in April 2021, it still recommends facemasks for all students and staff and 3 feet of social distancing rather than 6 feet.
