Summer 2020 Lunch Program Extended
The Clarinda School District has been notified that the United States Department of Agriculture has funds remaining from the summer program that can be used to extend the Summer Lunch feeding module through December, 2020 or until funds run out. Clarinda began offering free breakfast and lunch to all Pre-K to 12 students on September 9, and no child will be charged until further notice.
Approval is also extended to children ages 1-18 who are not enrolled in school, and all virtual learners.
We will begin home meal pickups on October 1 from 9-10 AM. Meals will be packed and available Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with the Monday/Wednesday bags containing two day’s breakfast and lunch. Pickup of meals will be done at Clarinda High School at the West side dock doors.
We do not require daily sign ups, but would appreciate an initial email to let us know you are interested in the program and potentially how many you would serve. That way we can start out with enough food to meet everyone’s needs. We do not have a lot of storage space as we did during the summer months, so we will distribute until we run out, but will not have the large number of extras because of space, so It would help a lot to have a starting lunch count.
Just a reminder, if you were paying full or reduced price for meals prior to September 9, any outstanding lunch balance is still due. We are happy to take small payments towards the balance during this time. Extra milk for home lunches or with the meals is not covered under this program, and those charges continue to accrue to your students’ account.
Please contact Traci DeBolt (tdebolt@clairindacsd.org) or Joyce Johansen (jjohansen@clarindacsd.org) and let us know you are participating and how many so that we can be sure to have meals ready for you.
If you do not have email access, please call Clarinda High School at 542-5167.
Thank you
