Launch the media gallery 1 playerCardinal Theatre will showcase their performances for the Iowa High School Speech Association Large Group Speech Contests on Thursday, January 30 at 6:00 pm in the Clarinda High School Theatre. The performances will begin at 6:00 PM.
The performing groups will present Musical Theatre selections directed by Ms. Hannah Grimm, including selections from the musicals Fiddler on the Roof and 9 to 5. Another category of performance is Group Improvisation. Students have also created an original Radio Broadcasting program. The Readers Theatre group will perform Chicken. Road. by Lindsay Price. And finally, the one act play will perform Clowns with Guns by Christopher Evans. Upon completion of the performance, a “talk back” session with the audience will be held with Mr. Brian Hess of Northwest Missouri State University moderating a discussion about school shootings, the subject of Clowns with Guns.
There is no admission charge for the performances. More than 35 students are involved in the speech program. Co-directors, Mr. Kennon Balster and Ms. Susan Lauritsen, hope you’ll attend on Thursday, January 30. You will see a group of talented CHS students!
