The story of the play welcomes us to Almost, Maine--a place that’s so far north, it’s almost not in the United States. It’s almost in Canada. And it’s not quite a town, because its residents never got around to getting organized. So it almost doesn’t exist. One cold, clear, winter night, as the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, the residents of Almost, Maine find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend—almost—in this delightful midwinter night’s dream.
Almost, Maine is an ensemble play about 9 different couples in various stages of falling in or out of love. Featured in the cast are Alex Baker as Pete and Cloe Holmstrom as Ginette; Kate Landhuis as Glory, and Owen Smith as East. Also featured are Storm Howard and Tatiana Schaapherder as Jimmy and Sandrine. Lauren Tunnicliff appears as a waitress at the local hangout, The Moose Paddy Sports Bar and Grill. Later, Jenna Kim (Marvalyn) and Aiden Shatava (Steve) have an interesting encounter, while Kari VanNostrand as Gayle and Jordan Fasnacht as Lendall work on their relationship. Also, Randy (Damon Nally) and Chad (Gavin Moheng) have a serious discussion about their disastrous dates. Cooper Randolph as Phil and Isabel Solivan as Marci try to repair their marriage. Brett Samuelson in the role of Hope, and Bryce Glidden, a man living in Almost have a chance encounter. Finally, after a night ride on their snowmobiles, long-time friends Rhonda (Hannah Powers) and Dave (Gabe Holmstrom) struggle to understand their relationship.
