AIM Career Fair
SWI Agricultural, Industrial Trades & Manufacturing Careers Fair
One hundred eighty students from Clarinda, Bedford, Shenandoah, Essex, Sidney, South Page, Red Oak, East Mills, Fremont Mills, Griswold and Stanton attended the Southwest Iowa AIM Careers Fair on December 14, 2018 hosted by Iowa Western Community College - Clarinda Campus. Each student had the opportunity to learn from local businesses and individuals about their careers in the career areas of Agriculture, Industrial Trades and Manufacturing. Breakout sessions included information ranging from Engineers to Quality Control, Animal Genetic to Ag Precision, HVAC to Carpentry.
During each session, students learned about a specific career, what education is needed beyond high school, potential income, work skills needed within that career and recommended high school courses to support that career. After the sessions the students were given time to visit booths represented by our supporting business, climb on some top of the line agriculture equipment, and try their luck as driving a Sprayer Simulator.
