Brokaw FFA Members Compete at NWMSU Ag Contests
Thirty-three Brokaw FFA members of Clarinda competed in the Northwest Missouri State University Agriculture Judging Contests held at the NWMSU campus on October 4th. The chapter saw eleven members compete in the Livestock Judging competition, six members compete in the Horse Judging competition, four members compete in the Farm Business Management competition, three members in the FFA Knowledge-Novice competition, and nine members compete in the FFA Knowledge-Advanced competition.
In the Horse Judging competition, the Clarinda team placed 5thout of 20 teams. Tanley Bebout, Shayla Harris, and Madelyn Pulliam made up the 5thplace team. Bebout placed 15th, Harris placed 20th, and Pulliam placed 26thoverall out of 68 total individuals. Other members competing in Horse Judging were Cooper Williams, Marshal Miller, and Alana Stickler.
In the Livestock Judging competition, the Clarinda team placed 4thout of 34 total teams. Members making up the 4thplace team were Bradlie Wilmes, Logan Green, and Jason Wright. Wilmes placed 10thoverall, Green placed 15th, and Wright placed 33rdout of a total of 231 participants. Other Brokaw team members in the Livestock Judging competition included Grant Jobe, Kari VanNostrand, Ethan Fast, Blaine Coston, Kylie Shackelford, Colbie Wilmes, Carter Larson, and Kaleb Reed.
In the FFA Knowledge-Advanced competition, the team of Bryn Morgenstern, Kristen Smith, and Taylor Wedemeyer was named champion team. Morgenstern placed 4thoverall, and Wedemeyer and Smith tied for 6thplace out of 31 individuals. Others competing in the FFA Knowledge-Advanced exam were Darah Gray, Dagen Price, Lane Mellencamp, Ethan Jones, Parker Rock, and Carson Campbell.
In the FFA Knowledge-Novice contest, the Brokaw team placed 13thout of 19 teams. Hailee Knight placed 5thoverall out of 127 individuals. Jaron Robberts and Hayden Morrison also competed in this event.
Lastly, in the Farm Business Management event, the Brokaw team of Brett Robberts, Alex Baker, and Ethan Herzberg placed 4thout of 15 teams. Robberts placed 6th, Baker placed 14th, and Herzberg placed 22ndout of a total of 65 individuals. Brady Williams also competed in this event as well.
