CHS Choir
The Clarinda High School choir ended the 2013-2014 school year very successfully with their Spring Concert and a special performance opportunity at the graduation ceremony. The choir shared their spring concert with the band and performed for the community on April 28 in the High School auditorium. Their song selections covered a variety of styles. Going back to the Renaissance period, the choir opened with an a cappella madrigal, "All Ye Who Music." Seniors Halle Goudie and Megan Calfee had solos in a cappella arrangement of Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone" from the feature film "Pitch Perfect." "Shambala," originally recorded by the group Three Dog Night was performed by eight members of the choir who auditioned to be a part of the octet. To close the concert, the choir gave an exciting performance of a mashup of "Danger Zone" from the movie Top Gun, and "Born to be Wild" by Steppenwolf. The choir worked very hard to add choreography to the number to add a fun new performance aspect to the concert. Alexia McAndrews volunteered to accompany on the piano and Isaac Durfey volunteered to play the drum set. On May 18th, the choir sang "Do I Make You Proud" featuring seniors Halle Goudie, Allison Barnett, Megan Calfee, and Sam Ripley accompanied by Mrs. Sharon McAlpin. The seniors have been great leaders in the choir and we wish them the best of luck in the future!
