Valentine's Day in Spanish Class
Valentine’s Day or Saint Valentine’s Day is a holiday celebrated on February 14 by many people throughout the world. In the English-speaking countries, it is the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other by sending Valentine’s cards, presenting flowers, or offering confectionary.
Valentine's Day in Spain is much like in many other parts of the world. Nice restaurants are booked up weeks in advance, and cards and flowers, like everywhere else, are also exchanged.
For such a special day, Spanish I students made their own Valentine’s Day Cards in Spanish. Spanish II B created and Valentine Acrostic Poem in Spanish and recited in front of the class. Spanish II A students received a list of phrases in Spanish and a list of phrases in English for them to match up. They also worked on a love song in Spanish and sang it in class. Spanish III students created their own poem about love entirely in Spanish. Poems and Cards were displayed in the classroom. We had a lot of fun and students had the opportunity to learn new vocabulary by acquiring it naturally.
¡Feliz Día de San Valentín!
