Homecoming King & Queen

Homecoming week is here for Clarinda. The student council is excited to organize the events and encourages all members of the cardinal community to participate in the celebrations. Homecoming comes quick this year and there are many activities to fill up the week. This year's theme is Life is a Journey & All Roads Lead to Cardinal Country!!!

Monday, September 9 is the kick of to the week. Monday's dress up day is "Safari/Animal Print" day. We encourage all students, staff, community members and businesses to participate in dressing up to show our cardinal spirit. Monday's activities include the introduction of the King and Queen at the Homecoming Coronation and Community Pep Rally beginning at 7:00 P.M. in the High School Gym.

On Tuesday, September 10 the dress up theme is "Fiesta" day. Tuesday's activities include 7th/8th grade volleyball games held at Red Oak starting at 4:00 pm. 7th/8th grade cross country will be in action at 4:30 at Clarinda high school with the High School Girls and Boys to follow at 5:00 P.M.  The Clarinda JV football team will play the Clarinda Academy at 6:00 PM at the Clarinda Academy football stadium.

Wednesday's dress up theme is "Ship Wrecked". The high school students will participate in class competitions during the annual Homecoming Tournament of Games.

Thursday's dress up theme is "America the Beautiful"day.  Tuesday's activities include 7th/8th grade volleyball against Shenandoah. The 7th grade game will be held at the Clarinda Lied Center at 4:00 pm while the 8th grade game will be held at the Clarinda Middle School Gym at 4:00 pm. The High School JV volleyball will be in action in Atlantic as they participate in the Atlantic JV Volleyball Tournament. Play begins at 5:00 pm.

Friday is "Home at Last!..Cardinal Pride Day" and everyone is asked to dress in school colors. The Homecoming Parade, located around the square, will be held at 2:00 pm. Prior to the football game the FFCLA and FFA are holding a tailgate supper in the parking lot behind the high school from 5:00-7:00 pm. Introduction of the homecoming royalty will begin at 6:30 pm at the field and the football game, against the Mount Ayr Raiders, will begin at 7:00 pm. The Homecoming Dance will be held after the game until 11:30 pm.

Saturday Clarinda High School will host the 9th/JV Volleyball Tournament with competition being held at both the high school and the middle school gyms. Tournament action begins at 8:30 AM and ends the week's activities.

As homecoming is a celebration of the community, the student council would like to invite all businesses and organizations to be a part of the homecoming parade. Any person or business interested in entering a float into the Homecoming Parade, contact Mrs. Almelien at the high school 712-542-5167.
