Brokaw FFA Members Conduct Seatbelt Safety Program
Brokaw FFA members of Clarinda conducted a rural road safety program entitled “Buckle Up or Eat Glass” to area students on September 29.
As part of the program, members stopped vehicles coming to the middle school/high school campus on the morning of the 29th and checked for seatbelt use. Those students and parents wearing their safety belts were given a “prize” for doing so. FFA members then presented a safety presentation, highlighting many safety procedures to use in rural areas and startling statistics about rural accidents. The presentation was given to all eighth graders.
After completing the final report, it showed that 82% of all drivers and passengers checked were indeed wearing their safety belts. FFA members helping with the presentation were Jason Wright, Adam Johnson, Owen Johnson, Allyson Johnson, Phoebe Garrett, Brooklyn Harris, Aubrey Herzberg, and Colby Carlson. Members helping check seatbelts were McKenna Yearington, Chloe Strait, Jordyn McQueen, Alea Van Vactor, Hannah Milleson, and Hailee Knight.
