Public Forum to Review Strategic Plan held on Thursday, March 22nd from 6:00-7:00 PM in the High School Library.
The Clarinda Community School District is entering the final steps of its comprehensive strategic planning process before moving to implementation. The Planning Team has also outlined a set of five priority goals based on areas of stakeholder consensus that were determined through focus groups and surveys at the beginning of the process. These priority goals are:
1. Student Achievement.
2. Facilities & Finance.
3. School Culture.
4. Staff Engagement.
5. Community & State Partnerships.
Draft work plans have been developed to begin putting these goals into action during the first year of implementation. There are many new improvements proposed in response to community input. People spoke and our Planning Team has been actively listening, and will continue to do so. One of these areas is for the District to engage in more ongoing dialogue with stakeholders. Among the strategies to accomplish this are the addition of an annual year-end parent survey, and senior exit interviews. Although a majority of the proposed actions do not require new expenditures, others will have to be analyzed through the District’s upcoming budgeting process. Action plans will be updated each year during the five-year period covered by the Strategic Plan.
The public is invited to learn more about the District’s priority goals and specific actions proposed at a Forum to be held on Thursday, March 22nd from 6:00-7:00 PM in the High School Library. This is an opportunity to discuss the proposed Plan with members of the Planning Team and to submit comments on the final components of the Strategic Plan. Children’s activities and supervision will be provided free of charge by the Clarinda High School Student Council.
You can also stay informed about the planning process through updates posted regularly on the District’s website. Hard copies of background documents and meeting notes will also continue to be available for public review throughout the process at the three school offices and the Public Library. The School Board is expected to take up formal adoption of the Strategic Plan at its meeting on April 9th.
