Lego League Team Travels To State Competition

On January 14, The Liquid Legos, members of the Clarinda First Lego League, traveled to Iowa State University to participate in the State First Lego Competition. They participated in three Robot Table Games, Robot Design, Core Values, and Presentation. Their presentation was over Underground Irrigation and the benefits it can provide to a small scale garden.

Throughout the season the team toured the water treatment plant in Clarinda and spoke with a local farmer about their ideas. Then they built a scale-model of the Underground Irrigation system that they designed. In their garden they grew radishes. They took care of the garden throughout the season and recorded how well the radishes were growing.

At regional competition, The Liquid Legos, received an Overall Award to advance to State competition. At Iowa State University, the team had two high scores of 75 points and 85 points in the Robot Game. They shared how and why the built their robot the way they did. They also shared their presentation with the judges. The team also competed in Core Values, in which they demonstrated how well they work together as a team. The season is now over, but we are excited for next season!
