Reduce, Reuse and Recycle
During the past few weeks, Preschool classes have been discussing Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. We have talked about what is trash, where it should go, what can be recycled, and how we could use recycled items for other purposes. Many books have been read to the class about the topic and we even had a special visitor come to class and discuss where the trash from our room goes. Mr. Craig Hill was kind enough to share an example of how much trash one person throws away in a day. He talked about what happened after we threw things away in our classroom.
Different uses for items have been discussed. Birdfeeders, candle holders, plant containers, and robots have been the main items mentioned to make with reusable items. So, if your child brings up making something from your trash, they learned it from school. Teaching them to be good stewards of our earth is the main point of all of the “trash” talk.
