2019 OUTSTANDING SERVICE AWARD FOR COMMUNITY SUPPORT
Mr. George Crawford – Clarinda
The Iowa High School Athletic Directors Association is proud to recognize George Crawford for a 2019 IHSADA Outstanding Service Award.
George graduated from Clarinda High School in 1972. He attended Northwest Missouri State University where he graduated with an Ag Business degree. Following college, he graduated from Mendenhall Auction School in High Point, North Carolina. George was co-owner of Clarinda Livestock Auction from 1980-2008. He is currently the owner and broker at Crawford Real Estate and Auction.
In 1977, George began his volunteer position on the Chain Gang for Clarinda High School varsity football games. He continued in this role with great enthusiasm and dedication for 41 years, retiring at the end of the 2018 season.
He was proud to be honored as Page County Cattleman on the Year in 2016. George is a member of the Plumb Masonic Lodge, the Shrine Club in Iowa and Missouri, and the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.
George was instrumental in starting Page County Pheasants Forever and was Chapter President in 1990-91. He was also on the Page County Conservation Board for four years. He has a strong passion for conservation of our wildlife and habitat land, believing that we are not owners of the land, only caretakers, making it better for the next generations.
He has been married to his wife, Katie, for 24 years. They have two children, Holly and Hunter. They are both graduates of Clarinda High School.
