Mentors in Violence Prevention

Education is prevention. We are excited to bring the Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP) program model to CMS and CHS for the 2018-2019 school year.

MVP is based on a peer leadership model that targets the role of the “bystander” to behaviors

otherwise deemed hurtful and harmful to others. The model seeks to empower those who might

otherwise be silent observers to situations where bullying and gender violence is unfolding.

The MVP model utilizes trained student leaders (MVP mentors), educators, and community

professionals to guide weekly or bi-monthly discussions and problem solving activities around

scenarios that depict harassment, bullying, and other forms of gender violence. Our middle and high school will incorporate MVP as part of our district’s commitment to a healthy school climate and culture, and well-rounded, socially responsible citizens. It will also assist in students’ successful transition from elementary, to middle school, and to high school and beyond.
