Brokaw FFA Members Conduct Seatbelt Safety Program
Brokaw FFA members of Clarinda conducted a rural road safety program entitled “Buckle Up or Eat Glass” to area students on September 21.
As part of the program, members stopped vehicles coming to the middle school and the high school on the morning of the 21st and checked for seatbelt use. Those students and parents wearing their safety belts were given a “prize” for doing so. FFA members then presented a safety presentation, highlighting many safety procedures to use in rural areas and startling statistics about rural accidents. The presentation was given to all eighth graders at the Middle School.
After completing the final report, it showed that 95% of the students who were stopped and checked for seatbelt use were indeed wearing their safety belts. FFA members helping with the presentation were Tattum Hughes, Taylor Wedemeyer, Darah Gray, Bryn Morgenstern, Brady Williams, and Brett Robberts. Members helping check seatbelts were Taylor Wedemeyer, Bryn Morgenstern, Kristen Smith, Jordan VanGundy, Colbie Wilmes, Shayla Harris, Kylie Shackelford, and Tattum Hughes.
