Brokaw FFA Members Participate in Career Development Events

Brokaw FFA members of Clarinda recently participated in the Ag Mechanics and Agronomy Career Development Events conducted by the Iowa FFA Association at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, on June 7.  Both contests provided the students an opportunity to develop skills in each of the two agricultural areas.

Members competing in the Ag Mechanics contest participated in numerous events, including problem solving practicums in the areas of energy systems, environmental and natural resource systems, electrical systems, machinery and equipment systems, and structural systems; a team problem solving activity; and individual tests.  The Brokaw team consisted of Dagen Price, Cooper Williams, Dalton Brown, and Lane Mellencamp.  The team received a Bronze rating.

Members competing in the Agronomy contest also participated in a number of events, including crop judging, hay judging, silage judging, seed judging, plant and insect identification, an individual test, and a team problem solving activity as well.  The team of Ethan Herzberg, Alex Baker, and Blaine Coston received a Silver rating.
