Science Class Designs Coolers

The 8th grade students have been learning about thermal energy. As they were learning about thermal energy they also learned about temperature, temperature scales, conductors, insulators, and the way heat transfers from items. The students got to apply their new knowledge when they made their own cooler. The students had class time to work on their design. The students got to compete for two awards: Best Cooler Design and Most Efficient Cooler. The students had to ensure that four ice cubes didn't melt in their cooler, the ice cubes were placed in their coolers for 30 minutes. The best design was voted on by their classmates, then an overall winner was voted on by some staff members.
