Clarinda Middle School Cross Country is Making News!

This season’s hard work is beginning to yield amazing results for the Clarinda Middle School cross country team. The girls’ team placed 1st in both the Red Oak and Southwest Valley Invitational Meets. Taking the lead for the girls’ team has been, Mayson Hartley. In the Red Oak Invitational, Mayson Hartley won the race finishing 44 seconds ahead of the 2nd place competitor. Mayson completed the 3K course in 13:00 minutes. She is no stranger to winning cross country races and has won three of the four meets that Clarinda Middle School has entered. Pushing Mayson to the front of the pack have been teammates: Ashlyn Wittler, Coryl Matheny, Isabelle Smith, Hannah Milleson, and Skylar Ned. In the Red Oak Meet: Ashlyn raced to 4th; Coryl placed 6th; Isabelle ran 17th; Hannah was 24th; and Skylar finished in 39th place. If winning a trophy at Red Oak wasn’t thrilling enough, this same team of girls also won the Southwest Valley Invitational, scoring an almost perfect 18 points. The 18 points were a result of the following domination of places: Mayson Hartley 1st; Coryl Matheny 2nd; Ashlyn Wittler 3rd; Isabelle Smith 5th; Hannah Milleson 7th; and Skylar Ned 17th. The Clarinda Middle School cross country team would not be complete without: Brayden Hayes, Luke Baker, and Dustin Foote. Besides being the wind beneath our wing footed girls’ team, they have been making some impressive strides on their own. At Red Oak: Brayden raced to 25th place; Luke ran 48th; and Dustin finished in 57th place. At Southwest Valley, Brayden placed 13th and Dustin was 25th. If you would like to experience the thrill of watching these athletes compete, please join us at our next home meet on October 12th, at Clarinda High School.
