Oh, The Places You'll Go!
Our fun career day was exciting with a few special guests. We enjoyed our visit with Larry Stevens of Stevens Brothers Construction. He brought a number of pictures to show the different stages of building a home and some of the equipment used to do so. The kids were able to see what tools he kept in his tool belt and talked about how he might use them. They then finished with a measurement activity and a sandpaper and wood block sanding activity. The kids really enjoyed exploring and did a nice job of welcoming Larry to our classroom.
Our second guest was Daryl Brown from Case IH implements that is located directly across from the Middle School. He was able to come to the classroom and share about the farm equipment he works on and we showed a few pictures of the combines he does a variety of maintenance and repair on. We finished our visit with a quick walk to look across the way to see the many different pieces of farm machinery on the Case IH lot.
Both visits were very interesting to the students and they took a lot from the activities and experience. I am very grateful for the help from Larry and Daryl to make our "Career Day" go so well. I hope it was a small chance for the students to see "Oh, The Places They'll Go!"
