STEAM Class
Garfield’s STEAM class has been focusing on texture and the art style of cubism. We learned how texture can not only be how something feels to the touch, but can also be how something looks like it feels. We used different texture rubbing boards to create our pictures in first through third grades. In kindergarten, we used texture rollers and paint. The styles of textures used varies from smooth circles to rough animal prints and everything in between. When we learned about cubism, each grade focused on a different artist. Cubism is using shapes and colors to create a picture. Kindergarten learned about Pablo Picasso. First grade learned about Georges Braque. Second grade learned about Juan Gris and third grade learned about artists from today that still use cubism. The pictures show examples of each grade’s texture artwork and kindergarten’s examples of cubism.
