Academic All Conference and Character Awards
The Hawkeye 10 Academic All-Conference Award was established to recognize and reward outstanding students from each of the Hawkeye 10 schools. Twenty-two students from the 11 schools in the conference are selected based on Academics, Leadership, Character, Extra and Co-Curricular Recognitions and School/Community Service. Students who are nominated must have a minimum composite ACT score of 29 or SAT score of 1200 to be eligible. Each student nominated must complete an application to the Hawkeye 10 selection committee.
Officers of the Hawkeye 10 Board of Control and one non-school person form a committee who selects the 22 highest qualified students to be on the All Academic Conference Team of 2015. This year Clarinda senior Abby Brown, daughter of Greg and Susan Brown, was selected to receive the Hawkeye 10 All Academic Conference Award.
Each school also selects one student to receive the Character Award. This is also a conference award for the student from each school who demonstrates good character in Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, Citizenship, Overcoming Obstacles, Making Difficult Choices, Generosity and Self-Sacrifice, and Community Service. Austin Smith, son of Mike and Kristin Smith, was selected to receive the Hawkeye 10 Character Award representing Clarinda High School.
Abby and Austin will received their award at the Hawkeye 10 All Academic Conference Banquet on April 8 in Atlantic. Congratulations to Abby and Austin!!
