Space Foundation International Student Art Contest Winners
In October and early November, the preschool through second grade students learned about space and created a poster of how they thought their view from a space ship would look. We learned about planets, stars, different characteristics of planets, and researched many questions the students had about space. This type of learning is guided by the students’ questions and interests in different aspects of space. This was occurring about the same time as November 4th, voting day. We learned about voting and secrecy. Once the posters were finished, the students voted on what they thought was the best poster. We took the top three posters from each class and then had elementary teachers and some other staff members vote on the three finalists in each age group. The age groups were 3-4 year olds, 5-6 year olds, and 7-8 year olds. The finalists’ artwork was photographed and the photograph was sent into the contest. We will not hear results until mid-January.
